Unit Export supplied two aluminium flat boats for the Kilombero and Lower Rufiji Wetlands Ecosystem Management Project (KILORWEMP).
Unit Export were awarded a contract to supply of 2 x inland vessels for the Kilombero and Lower Rufiji Wetlands Ecosystem Management Project (KILORWEMP) in Tanzania, co-financed by the Belgian government and the European Union. It was executed by Enabel in partnership with the Tanzanian Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism. The project supports the strengthening of fisheries management according to the national framework, thus supporting the capacity of the local authorities to monitor and control fisheries in the target areas.
Two aluminium river/wetland boats and their trailers were manufactured for that purpose and shipped from South Africa to Tanzania. The boats were subsequently transported from Dar es Salaam to Ifakara their final destination. Unit Export arranged for a specialist training to take place, which lasted 5 days and encompassed basic navigation, use and maintenance of the engine and some practice runs for the trainees.
